About the Club

Chartered in 1967, the Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island is the area's largest and oldest civic and service organization.  The Club's 160 members represent leaders in the business, professional, nonprofit, educational, governmental and retirement communities who share a common commitment to community service.  Recruitment of new members is essential to enhancing the Club's existing capabilities and achieving service goals.


IMPRESSIVE HISTORY OF COMMUNITY SERVICE

Medical: Purchased first ambulance for HHI rescue squad.  Raised $75,000 for worldwide polio eradication.  Sponsored "Gift of Life" surgeries for twelve young people from Third World countries.  Contributed more than $20,000 for Alzheimers' disease care and research.

Education: Provided more than $300,000 in college scholarships to local students. Sponsor annual international student exchanges.  Conduct vocational and mentoring programs in the public schools.  Recognize outstanding public and private school students and teachers annually.

Youth Services: Developed Island Rec Center.  Sponsored first Boy Scout troop on Hilton Head Island.  Purchased first van for Boys and Girls Club.  Funded soccer fields, equipment and lighting for Crossing Park.  Established Interact Clubs at High Schools on the Island.

Professional Development:  Seeded startup of Leadership Hilton Head.  Sponsor annual professional international exchanges (in-bound and out-bound).  Recognize outstanding small business of the year.  Co-sponsor annual breakfast to honor local law enforcement/security officers and firefighters.

Charitable Support: Provide annual bell ringing for Salvation Army.  Conduct annual food drive.  Seeded start-up of SHARE Center.  Co-sponsored Habitat for Humanity Community Center.  Lead million $ campaign to provide permanent home for Deep Well.  Contributions to community total more than $1.7 million.

FUN AND FELLOWSHIP

The Rotary Club of Hilton Head meets at 12:30 pm each Thursday in the Sea Pines Country Club for a luncheon and a program.  Special fellowship events are held several times a year for members and their spouses.  Committee assignments, seminars, "hands-on" work projects, bell ringing and the annual Heritage Classic provide yet additional opportunities for fun and fellowship.

MEMBERSHIP INTEREST?

New members are inducted into the Club quarterly.  Each new member must be sponsored by an active member, attend a Rotary Information Session, and subscribe to the principles of Rotary International.  Financial commitments include a $200 initiation fee and a quarterly $251 payment towards meals, dues and Paul Harris Fellowship.  JOIN US!
